Overview
Sharing Knowledge and
Building Resources
The Foundation for Senior Living
considers Education and Training central to its vision
of “a caring
community that promotes the well-being of seniors and
adults with disabilities.”
Through partnerships, advisory committees and community
workshops and seminars, the Foundation for Senior Living
invests significant time building awareness of the special
needs and concerns of seniors, adults with disabilities
and their caregivers.
We are confident that a well informed community will
find ever more creative ways to embrace and celebrate
its mature and frequently vulnerable members.
In addition to its many outreach activities, the Foundation
has established several formal training programs.

Assisted Living Training
Caregivers and
managers of adult foster homes and assisted living
facilities afford their care recipients the dignity
and independence of living in a home-like environment.
The Foundation’s Assisted Living Training program
provides a full spectrum of practical classes that
lead to certification for managers and caregivers of
state licensed adult foster care homes and assisted
living facilities. Students including RNs, LPNs
and CNAs receive the knowledge and confidence to pass
state board exams and periodically renew critical skills.
Most classes are also available for other workforce
caregivers as well as family members who wish to learn
about topics and skills appropriate for their own specific
caregiving challenges.
We invite you to review the current Assisted
Living Training Schedule and visit our Assisted
Living Education web page.
Family Caregiver Training
80% of seniors and adults with disabilities receiving
long term care are attended by family members, who
are frequently not prepared to assume the medical,
psychological and financial burdens they lovingly accept.
They deserve our admiration and support.
The FSL Caregiver House was opened
in June 2007 as a gathering and learning place
for family and workforce caregivers as well as for
the many seniors and adults with disabilities who proactively
manage their own care.
A wide variety of learning events and training classes
are offered there for free or for very reasonable fees.
Family caregivers learn to cope with the challenge
of caring for loved ones while preserving personal
life balance.

House and Family Caregiver classes, please call Susan

Home Energy Performance Training for Contractors
As a local sponsor of the national
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program and an
affiliate of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Performance Institute,
FSL’s AZ Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program
trains home improvement contractors, monitors their
technicians and qualifies them to display the national
ENERGY STAR designation.
At our Southwest Building Science
Training Center on the FSL Home Improvements campus,
our professional trainers prepare contractors throughout
the Southwest to perform “whole house” energy
audits and perform required improvements. Courses
provide nationally recognized BPI certification or
confer continuing education credits.
We invite you to read descriptions of our AZ
Home Performance Training Courses and visit our Arizona
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR web page.
